Travel to and on Stony Brook University

From New York City, take the Long Island Expressway (LIE, I-495) eastbound from the Queens Midtown Tunnel in Manhattan or the Throgs Neck Bridge or Whitestone Bridge in Queens to exit 62, and follow Nicolls Road (Route 97) north for 9 miles. The main entrance to the University is on the left. To find the campus via GPS, enter the address "100 Nicolls Road, Stony Brook, NY 11790."  Once you have arrived on campus, follow the signs to the the hotel or Wang Center.

Stony Brook University is now offering the “Zipcar” car sharing program on its Main campus in Stony Brook. The convenient transportation option is now available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for students, faculty, and staff ages 18 and older with a valid drivers’ license, as well as to licensed drivers in the local community ages 21 and over.

​

Stony Brook University will initially offer four Zipcar vehicles, including a Ford Focus and a Honda Insight Hybrid. Zipcars will have designated parking spots located in campus parking lots near the M&H Quad residence halls and the Charles B. Wang Center, as well as a parking lot location adjacent to West Apartments. Zipcars are available on-demand and can be reserved and accessed via the telephone reservation line or via the Zipcar website.
